Legal Skills Course

The National Association of Licensed Paralegals is introducing a four day class attendence course teaching the four essential legal skills for people working everyday in the legal sector

The Association is looking for a tutor/s to teach this four day course. If you are interested or know of someone who would be interested in teaching this course please send an email to info@nationalparalegals.co.uk The applicant must be available to teach this course from 10am to 5pm. Syllabus

Interviewing: The paralegal as a communication specialist; a model of the client interview; purpose; environment; introduction and closure; language; preparation; listening; rapport; investigative interviewing; record of the interview; checklists.

Negotiating: The post graduate criteria for negotiation. Preparation, three stages of every negotiation, beginning, middle and ending gambits, power and how to get it, personality styles, factors that influence negotiation.

Advocacy: Paralegals have rights of audience in the Small Claims Courts, most Tribunals and before District Judges on Interim Applications, principles and ethics, preparation for hearing/trial, examination and cross-examination; submissions, persuasion.

Drafting: Introduction; the post graduate criteria for drafting; drafting informal documents, drafting formal documents, forms and precedence.
