The NALP and the SPA, which were the first two groups to become international associate members of the National Federation of Paralegal Associations, are building on the overseas relationship to exchange information about the sector.

Independent appeals clerks
The independent appeals process is quasi judicial by nature and is based on the principles of natural justice.
Clerks Associates are looking for individuals to clerk independent appeal panel hearings. The main responsibilities of the clerk are as follows:
The Clerk is not a member of the panel but is an independent source of advice for all parties.
· Attend panel hearing
· Explains the procedures to appellants and deal with questions relating to the procedures before the hearing.
· Keeps a complete and accurate record of proceedings
· The clerk plays no part in the decision making process but is present during the panel's deliberations
· Notifies appellants in writing of the panel's decision.
Full training will be provided free of charge.
Independent Appeals Panel Members
The independent appeals process is quasi judicial by nature and is based on the principles of natural justice.
Clerks Associates are looking for individuals to hear appeals by parents who are appealing against a school's decision not to offer their child a place at their preferred school and to consider the school's reasons for refusing to offer a place.
We are looking for individuals who:
- Have an interest in education
- Good listeners
- Objective
- Approachable
Duties of a panel member entail:
- Attending local panel meetings.
- Keeping up to date with local /national education issues.
- Listening to both sides of arguments impartially
- Making a decision with other panel members
