Is there such a thing as a Paralegal Profession ?
Paralegals are now regarded as the 'Fourth Arm' of the Legal Profession
The establishment of a specifically identifiable paralegal profession is important because of a number of factors:
1. Eradication of Legal Aid - leaving a void for the consumer that cannot afford the services of a solicitor or barrister
2. The number of Graduates who are entering the legal sector when there are no longer enough Training Contracts or Pupillages
During their degree programme Undergraduates need to seriously consider a Paralegal career as a viable alternative to that of qualifying as a Solicitor.
