Why should you choose an Ofqual certified qualification?
If you’re considering a NALP paralegal qualification, you will have noticed we refer to the fact that they are all Ofqual-certified. You’re probably wondering whether this really makes a difference, especially if you are also considering others that may not be Ofqual-certified and therefore not externally regulated.
Here’s why Ofqual certification is so important…
What is Ofqual?
The Office of Qualifications and Examinations Regulation (Ofqual) regulates qualifications, examinations and assessments in England. They maintain standards and confidence in qualifications in England for:
- GCSEs
- A levels
- AS levels
- vocational and technical qualifications
- Apprenticeship end-point assessments
They are independent of government and report directly to Parliament. Ofqual regulates awarding organisations to develop, deliver and award qualifications in England. They set rules that awarding organisations must follow and ensure that qualifications and assessments meet high standards. They make sure qualifications are fair and reflect what students know, understand and can do. So, students can be confident and trust in the grade they receive.
How does a qualification get Ofqual-certified?
Before any NALP qualifications could be certified, NALP had to become a recognised Awarding Organisation. We had to demonstrate our capacity to design, develop and deliver a regulated qualification and we have to maintain that capacity as we are continuously monitored.
Once we became an Awarding Organisation, we were able to submit our qualifications for Ofqual to check and certify.
How do you check a qualification is Ofqual-certified?
The easiest way is to check the Register of Regulated Qualifications by clicking here. Type “NALP” into the search bar and you will find all of our qualifications, including a number of the Single Units.
