NALP is the longest running UK Membership Body for Paralegals. We have dedicated over 30 years to promoting the status of Paralegal Professionals, gaining greater recognition for the work you do within the legal sector.

For over 30 years, we have been lobbying and advocating on our members' behalf for greater recognition. NALP has in the past lobbied The Law Society and the Bar Council. 

Qualifications and Training

We are the only paralegal membership body to offer nationally recognised and accredited courses through the Government body, Ofqual. Our members have access to all NALP's bespoke qualifications, to further your training and career. We also offer, in partnership with DPSS Consultants, specially designed one-day training courses for NALP Paralegals.

Licenced Paralegal Register

All NALP Members will have benefit from free registration on the LPR, NALP's Licenced Paralegal Register. The LPR is a a great opportunity for NALP members to market themselves to prospective employers and clients. 

NALP Members will also benefit from the opportunity to gain our Licence to Practise.

Who Can Become a Member?


Legal Secretaries

available for anyone who has a Legal Secretary Diploma from ILSPA or CiLex or other.



Affiliate Membership

available to those with relevant legal experience or qualifications and students




Associate Membership

Minimum Level 3 (appropriate law related certificate/diploma) A' Level Law or minimum relevant legal experience 3 years+




Graduate Membership

LLB or BA Law or Joint Law Degree, Graduate Diploma in Law (GDL), Legal Practice Course, Bar Professional Training Course or Level 7 Diploma in Paralegal Practice - without experience




Fellowship Membership

Minimum Level 6 (Graduate) eg LLB, BA, GDL or Joint Law Degree (to include the English Common Law System) + minimum 3 years relevant legal experience



Principal Fellow Membership

Fellows with relevant qualifications and/or experience who have many years experience and are working in-house in law firms or companies
