Check out this amazing new Paralegal job opportunity with The Associated Press! The AP are looking for an experienced Paralegal to join their London office.

 

The key responsibilities of the role are:

  • Structure, draft and negotiate a variety of agreements, covering production, acquisition, licensing, syndication, marketing and international distribution of AP’s news content and media services;

  • Providing preliminary review/cross-checking of commercial agreements, NDAs and letters;

  • Review, manage and help resolve legal issues that arise under commercial agreements;

  • Drafting letters as advised by internal clients, to include terminations, payment plans, cease and desist and other general ad hoc legal letter requests;

  • Assist with copyright claims and enforcement matters as directed;

  • Legal research as directed by legal team to include, privacy laws, data protection, copyright, etc.;

  • Undertake any project and ad-hoc work as directed by legal team;

  • Assist legal team on other matters as directed;

  • Assisting with ad hoc queries from all departments;

  • Other general admin support for legal team;

  • Provide day-to-day contract advice and guidance to the business divisions within AP International;

  • Liaise with outside counsel and notaries as instructed

 

The requirements for candidates are:

 

Essential:

  • Legal academic background;

  • Established experience in one or more positions that demonstrate teamwork, professionalism, attention to detail and responsibility;

  • Preference for candidates that have previous experience either in house or at a law firm;

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;

  • Exceptional attention to detail is a requirement in this role as well as strong interpersonal skills and the ability to liaise with clients and colleagues at all levels;

  • Highly-organised and self-motivated;

  • Ability to work under pressure and to meet tight deadlines.

     

    Preferred:

  • Previous experience of working within an international organisation and dealing with multi-territory legal issues;

  • Previous IP experience – copyright and enforcement.
