Women in Law Awards 2020

Despite the progress on tackling the gender pay gap and more employers offering flexible working hours, there is still a long way to go for inclusivity and gender equality in the legal profession. ‘Busting’ some of the norms and prejudices that continue to hold women back, the Women in Law Awards 2020 aim to reshape the discussion around gender diversity within the legal industry.

Launched by Incisive Media, this event will take place at the Hilton London Bankside on Tuesday, June 2nd this year. It will highlight the achievements of women and their excellence across all segments of the industry as well as promoting some forward-thinking initiatives to improve the sector’s diversity.

The award categories range from Woman of the Year to Rising Star-Legal Services Innovator and Unsung Hero, for which a Paralegal Lawyer Caroline Spencer-Boulton has been nominated. Holding a NALP Level 4 Diploma, she runs her own Criminal Defence firm in Essex. Thanks to her determination and professional success, she has been raising the profile of the paralegal profession. NALP is very proud to support this nomination.

The judging panel for the Women in Law Awards 2020 includes Kathleen Russ, Senior Partner at Travers Smith; Tuvia Borok, Executive Director and Senior Counsel, Legal department, Goldman Sachs; Evelyn Styles, UK and Ireland General Counsel at Hays and many more esteemed legal industry colleagues.

Joanna Harris, Head of Responsible Business at Simmons & Simmons who will also be a judge at the event said: “I am honoured to be on the judging panel for the first Women in Law Awards. [… ] Showcasing the achievements of women across the industry is a great way of celebrating real talent and, importantly, inspires others to make their mark too.”
